1M&L for raking out the existing joint sealing compound from expansion joints of width not exceeding 20 mm, to the full depth of the existing sealant or up to 40 mm, whichever is less, by using suitable mechanical tools such as concrete cutters, wire/coir brushes and other approved equipment, and thoroughly cleaning the joints using compressed air so as to make them free from dust, dirt, grease, laitance and all other loose or foreign materials, including all adhered remnants of the existing joint sealing compound and removal of existing filler board, backer rod and bond breaker tape where found damaged, displaced, missing or otherwise unserviceable and ordered by the Engineer-in-Charge, to the entire satisfaction of the Engineer-in-Charge; filling the joints with single-component polyurethane joint sealant conforming to the performance requirements of BS 5212 and EN 14188, applied using a suitable sealant gun or other approved mechanical dispensing equipment to provide a sealant depth of not less than 13 mm (minimum depth above the backer rod), having a manufacturer's performance warranty of not less than 05 years, having a manufacturer's declared performance warranty of not less than 05 years, where such warranty is offered by the manufacturer and a minimum Movement Accommodation Factor (MAF) of 30%, including application of a compatible primer uniformly to both joint faces in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions; filling the remaining raked depth of the joint with compressed closed-cell polyethylene backer rod to ensure firm and uniform packing without gaps or voids and, where the joint configuration does not permit proper installation of the backer rod or where specifically directed by the Engineer-in-Charge, providing bond breaker tape over the filler board to prevent three-sided adhesion of the sealant; applying masking tape along both edges of the joint to obtain a neat finish and removing the same immediately after completion of sealing, complete in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and as specified and directed by the Engineer-in-Charge. NOTE: Closed-cell polyethylene backer rod, bond breaker tape and filler board, where found damaged, displaced, missing or otherwise unserviceable and ordered by the Engineer-in-Charge to be replaced, shall be measured and paid for separately under the relevant BOQ items. The cost of all other materials, labour, tools and plant, primer, masking tape and incidental items necessary for satisfactory completion of the work shall be deemed to be included in the quoted rates.400.00RM

3M&L for raking out the existing joint sealing compound from construction and dummy joints of width not exceeding 12 mm to the full depth of the existing sealant or up to 40 mm, whichever is less, using suitable mechanical tools such as concrete cutters, wire/coir brushes and other approved equipment, and thoroughly cleaning the joints with compressed air so as to remove dust, dirt, grease, laitance and all loose or foreign materials, including adhered remnants of the existing joint sealing compound and including removal of the existing backer rod where found damaged, displaced, missing or otherwise unserviceable and ordered by the Engineer-in-Charge, complete to the satisfaction of the Engineer-in-Charge. The prepared joint shall thereafter be primed with a compatible primer applied uniformly to both joint faces and sealed with single-component, moisture-curing polyurethane joint sealant conforming to the performance requirements of BS 5212 and EN 14188, applied by a suitable sealant gun or other approved mechanical dispensing equipment to provide a sealant depth of not less than 13 mm above the backer rod, having a manufacturer's performance warranty of not less than 05 years, wherever such warranty is offered by the manufacturer and a minimum Movement Accommodation Factor (MAF) of 30%. The remaining raked depth of the joint shall be filled with compressed closed-cell polyethylene backer rod to ensure firm and uniform packing without gaps or voids. 4S&F compressed closed-cell polyethylene backer rod, non-absorbent, chemically inert and compatible with polyurethane joint sealants, for joints of width not exceeding 12 mm, complete all as specified and directed. Note: The diameter of the backer rod shall be approximately 20% to 25% greater than the joint width to ensure adequate compression, proper seating and prevention of three-sided adhesion of the sealant.800.00RM
