| 5 | Comprehensive Geotechnical Investigation,The scope of work shall comprise comprehensive geotechnical investigation, Engineering geological assessment, drilling, sampling, soil and rock testing, analysis and submission of a detailed geotechnical investigation report for the proposed construction works. The location and number of boreholes shall be as directed by IIT Jammu and the minimum depth of each borehole shall be 50 metres. The final geotechnical investigation data in report shall be technically vetted by IIT Jammu.
The agency shall carry out borehole drilling, collection of disturbed and undisturbed soil samples, continuous rock core recovery, geological logging, laboratory testing and engineering analysis. The minimum testing programme shall include:
a) Soil Tests:Natural Moisture Content, Specific Gravity, Grain Size Analysis (Sieve and Hydrometer), Atterberg Limits, Soil Classification, Bulk Density /Dry Density, Standard Proctor Compaction (OMC & MDD), Coefficient of Permeability, Direct Shear Test, Consolidated Undrained (CU) Triaxial Compression Test with Pore Water Pressure Measurement, and Unconfined Compressive Strength (UCS).
b) Rock Core Logging and Geological Assessment: Continuous core logging, Core Recovery, Rock Quality Designation (RQD), and discontinuity/joint characterization.
c) Rock Tests: Dry Density, Porosity, Water Absorption, Slake Durability Index, Point Load Strength Index (Is50), Uniaxial Compressive Strength (UCS), Brazilian Tensile Strength, Young's Modulus and Poisson's Ratio.
The final report shall include borehole logs, laboratory test results, geological and geotechnical interpretation, subsurface stratification, groundwater observations, engineering geological assessment, foundation recommendations, bearing capacity assessment, settlement analysis, slope stability considerations wherever applicable, and all supporting calculations, drawings and test certificates. All laboratory testing shall be carried out in NABL-accredited laboratories and all interpretations and recommendations shall be certified by a qualified Geotechnical Engineer/Engineering Geologist.
